SHELBURNE COUNTY EAST EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT
WATER CONSERVATION IN PREPARATION FOR DROUGHT
In light of the potential for another drought season, we would like the public to start preparing now by conserving water and thinking of ways to be more self-sufficient in water collection.
Shelburne County East Emergency Management will continue to explore options for additional supports for sustainable access to water in our communities. As in previous years, public water collection opportunities will be made available as the need arises, based on the SCEEMO Drought Plan.
Housing Nova Scotia also offers a variety of programs for emergency repairs as well as repairs related to health and safety. More information on these programs can be found at: https://housing.novascotia.ca/.../financial-assistance... .
Drought conditions are expected to continue annually and may begin earlier and/last longer each year. There are some proactive activities you can do around your home to conserve water and prepare for a water shortage. Everyone is encouraged to collect rainwater by capturing downspout run off or large container collection.
