Notice of Public Consultation

A Public Session will be held on Tuesday October 25th at 7:00 pm, to initiate a conversation with residents about the usage of Off-Highway Vehicles in town and on our trails. Off-Highway Vehicles are currently not permitted within Town limits, however with the development of the Shelburne Harbour Trail in cooperation with the Municipality of Shelburne and other provincial initiatives connecting separate trail routes throughout Nova Scotia, the Town is considering changes to our current trail system and the rules governing Off-Highway Vehicle Use.

You can vote any time between now and 7 PM on Saturday, October 15th; regular daily updates on voter turnout will be provided here.

Residents of the Municipality of Shelburne, Town of Shelburne, and Town of Lockeport, acceptable metal items can be placed curbside on your regular collection day between October 10th - October 21st, 2016.  Please see the attached poster for a list of acceptable materials.  

Water Information for Area Residents

Attention Area Residents:
If you need to fill larger water containers at the Fire Hall, there will be supervised use of a fire hose Mon-Fri from 4-7 p.m. and Saturdays from 2-7 p.m. This will help to cut down wait times for those who are filling smaller containers at the other hose.
Also, a reminder that 4L jugs of drinking water will be available for pick-up at the Fire Hall on Sept. 21 from 7-9 p.m., the Dock Street Washrooms have a water tap for filling small containers, Islands Park (during regular hours) and the Fire Hall have showers available (Wed/Sun 7-9 p.m.).

King Street Resurfacing Project

The Town of Shelburne anticipates work to begin on the King Street resurfacing project during the week of September 18-24. Expect traffic delays and disruptions on King Street for the duration of the work estimated to take one to two weeks.

Graham’s Park Splash Pad update

Please note that the Graham’s Park Splash Pad will be going to Back-to-School Hours effective Monday, September 12th.

The new hours of operation are: 

Monday to Friday: 3 pm - 7 pm

Saturday & Sunday: 12 noon - 7 pm

Town Infrastructure Tour

The Town of Shelburne is offering residents an opportunity for a free and informative tour of Town infrastructure and operations. From the water and wastewater treatment plants to roads, community buildings, parks and memorials the Town provides numerous services to residents; now is your chance to learn more about what we do and how we do it.Tours will be offered at 10 AM and 2 PM on Tuesday, September 13th. Tours will run approximately two hours, beginning and ending at the Shelburne Community Centre located at 63 King Street. Sou'West Nova Transit is providing a bus for the tour; the capacity of the bus is 14 seats which will be available on a first-come first-served basis.

Remembrance Day

It is time once again to honor the brave men and women who have put their lives on the line for us.

The Town of Shelburne is now taking orders for wreaths that will be placed on the Cenotaph at the Remembrance Day ceremonies on Friday, November 11th, 2016 at 11:00am at the Community Centre.

To purchase wreaths for Remembrance Day please complete the order form and return the form to the Town Office located at 168 Water Street. To make a payment for your wreath you can come into the Town Office with cash, debit or cheque payable to the Town of Shelburne. Cheques and order forms can also be mailed to PO Box 670, Shelburne, NS, B0T 1W0. We would like all orders to be in no later than Friday, August 26th, 2016.

Water Available for Personal Use of Town Residents Affected by Drought
Town residents in need of emergency water supplies for personal non-commercial use are permitted free access to Town water from the outside tap at the Guild Hall Washrooms located at 20 Maiden Lane. Please limit quantities to conserve our reservoir.


Effective immediately the Town of Shelburne is implementing restrictions to reduce the risk of wildfires due to prolonged dry weather. All outside burning is hereby prohibited until further notice. Furthermore we urge residents and visitors to avoid hiking and other recreational activities within heavily wooded areas and to exercise caution while utilizing Town trails and parks.
