Guild Hall Grand Opening Weekend!  May 26th-28th, 2017

9 Maiden Lane, Shelburne NS

We have a lot of exciting entertainment at the Guild Hall this summer and to kick it off, we will be having a weekend-long schedule of events including music, fitness, a museums by the sea Showcase and much more.

Friday:  Come out for cake and a chance to interact with your Town Council.  Stay for musical performances from Shelburne's very own Bell Choir, Mad Choir, and Pit Band under the direction of Bill Smith, followed by music by Pat Melanson.

Saturday:  Start out your weekend with the Grand Opening of the Shelburne Farmer's Market!  Enjoy some jazz from local Sax player Cheryl Graul and guitar player Auri Frattura.  Bring the kids to the Museums By the Sea Showcase for a hands-on look at our local history.  Later in the afternoon we are very happy to have the Sound of Men Choir travelling to join in the celebrations as well as rock-country artist Dave Burbine.  In the evening, we have a demonstration from the youth ballroom dancing class and solo musical performances by singer Madisen Atkinson-Newell, George Thornburn (AKA Banjo Bubba), and Sean McClure.  Stay after dark for a brilliant performance by Bridgewater puppet troupe and band, Shadow Band, as they mesmerize us with projected shadow puppetry and songs.

Sunday:  Sunday we will showcase other uses for the Guild Hall space and focus on healthy activities.  Sou'West Crossfit will begin the day with a youth session and invite youth to come out and take part.  At 11am, Rita and Phill (Sound Beings) will be hosting a Gong Session and encourage people to bring a yoga mat or blanket for the session, following that we have a karate demonstration from Kenny Doliver's karate class.  To finish off our weekend, the Mersey Swing Band will be playing an afternoon concert of swing, jazz, latin, and funk.

The Town of Shelburne would like to extend a big THANK YOU to all of the people who volunteered their time and talents to help us celebrate the grand opening of the Guild Hall!
